De Lille slams DA Cape Metro executive’s call to fire her

Cape Town Mayor Patricia De Lille has accused the Democratic Alliance (DA)’s Cape Metro Executive of making decisions without consulting branches and members.

She was reacting to a statement by Cape Metro Chairperson Grant Twigg calling for her removal as Cape Town mayor.

De Lille also faces allegations of irregular renovations to her private home, allegedly paid for by the city. De Lille says she received numerous calls from DA members saying they were not consulted on the statement.

She has challenged the Metro Executive to provide proof that it consulted all branches and members.

“The regional executive is meant to represent DA branches as well as members. And it’s only fair that they provide proof that they have in fact received mandate from the branches and also proof as to when they met with the branches to get this mandate,” says De Lille.
