DA/Agang debacle a political suicide: Booysen

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Political analyst and a senior lecturer at Wits University, Professor Susan Booysen, says what has just happened with the Democratic Alliance and Agang SA it was an amazing political spectacle, seen from seasoned politicians and their clear strategic visions.

She says both Helen Zille and Mamphele Ramphele shot themselves in the foot.

Booysen goes on to say: “It was a matter of political suicide, their descriptions have boggled the mind. Zille and Ramphele have suffered immense damage. It hasn’t been a good week for opposition politics. That the DA and Agang’s separate press briefings were two worlds apart, contradicting each other, it didn’t make a good impression.”

Booysen’s interview on SABC’s Morning Live show comes as South Africans prepare themselves for the elections, with the DA and Agang’s fallout stealing the limelight. Edited by Tshepo Tsheole
