The Democratic Alliance (DA) says it has noted with concern reports that the Hawks are investigating newly-appointed State Security Minister Bongani Bongo.
He was allegedly involved in fraud and corruption related to the acquisition of land while he was head of legal services in the Mpumalanga Human Settlements Department.
The DA says it will submit Parliamentary questions to ascertain if the State Security Agency properly vetted Bongo.
“The Minister of State Security is a very important job because you handle classified information. To do that you require security clearance…We want to find out whether he has security clearance,” says party chief whip, John Steenhuisen
