The Democratic Alliance has called on pupils who may have been sexually abused by a pastor at PT Xulu Secondary in Vosloorus to come forward and lay charges.
The party has expressed concern about alarming reports of the rape of a teenage boy by a local pastor who was also a member of the School Governing Body.
“Once you have a paedophile active and in a powerful position like a member of the SGB in a school, there tends to be more than one instance of sexual molestation. So, we have an awful feeling that there might be more pupils who might be more afraid to come forward, too shy or too ashamed and we are pressing the department to try and make sure that such people get an opportunity to come forward if they exist,” says the DA’s Belinda Bozzoli.
