The DA believes that the Guptas have been using the Bank of Baroda to channel South African tax-payers money out of the country.

The Democratic Alliance says it will write to the governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Urjit Patel to report the Gupta family’s accounts with the Bank of Baroda.

DA spokesperson, Natasha Mazzone says in terms of India’s Banking Regulation Act, the Reserve Bank has the power to prohibit Baroda from dealing with the Gupta family.

Mazzone says that their request comes in light of evidence from Parliament’s inquiry into state capture at state-owned entities as well as findings in the former Public Protector’s ‘State of Capture’ report.
