Democratic Alliance (DA) National Spokesperson Jan de Villiers says the DA is gunning for outright wins in the municipalities it is contesting in the upcoming local government elections.
Speaking at the Mary Fitzgerald Square in Johannesburg, where the party is launching its manifesto, De Villiers said that the DA will serve South Africans better if they get a mandate to govern alone, instead of within a coalition.
“We want to appeal to voters. Don’t take us into coalitions because coalitions are unstable. If you want stable government, if you want a municipality that can deliver services you deserve, then you need to support us so that we don’t go into coalitions. Of course, coalitions are formed after the election results, but at the moment we are not in any race to go into coalitions. We want to win. We want to win outright because that is how you get stability and that is how you give people the services they deserve.”
