DA supports Winde’s call for amendment of lockdown regulations

Madikizela is one of the mayoral candidates for the City of Cape Town in the upcoming local government elections.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) the Western Cape says it supports Premier Alan Winde’s call for national government to amend the current lockdown regulations.

DA provincial leader, Bonginkosi Madikizela, says the latest data has confirmed that the province has passed its peak and active coronavirus cases are declining.

He says government must now focus on rescuing the economy.

Winde says, “We supported some of these measures during the height of the festive season when our health facilities were under pressure and our health care workers could not cope.  We’ve now seen the devastation in our economy and we’re calling for the national government to relax these regulations, so that we can create much-needed jobs and bring back the dignity of our people.”
