Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Mmusi Maimane says his party supports all those who are calling for North West Premier Supra Mahumapelo to step down.

Maimane was visiting the troubled-torn provincial capital, Mahikeng. The town has been engulfed in violent protests by residents who accuse Mahumapelo of being corrupt.

Maimane’s first stop was at Montshioa Town Clinic which is not rendering services to the community due to Nehawu strike.

“The issues of corruption and maladministration here have been chronic – and the realities therefore are that people are asking for political accountability. We stand with those who say Supra must go, because clearly this province not only is it beset with corruption, it also is struggling to deliver basic services… our people are struggling here. Every time I come to the North West, people don’t find work, poor are not getting services… and it has become quite clear that is a province that has been captured.”
