The Democratic Alliance (DA)’s premier candidate in KwaZulu-Natal(KZN), Chris Pappas says the party wants to prioritise getting basic services to work for the people. This includes access to water and fixing roads.

Pappas and the DA’s provincial leader, Francois Rodgers spoke to the media in Durban.

They unpacked the party’s top priorities if they come into power in KZN. The DA has its sights set on unseating the provincial African National Congress (ANC) government in May’s general elections, co-governing the province with the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP).

Pappas, who is mayor of the only DA run municipality in the province, says the DA would reach out to experts and the private sector to help with finding solutions.

“Our province is full of people who want to contribute towards accountability and also to rebuilding. In Umngeni, we have established civilian oversight committees and civilian technical expertise who help government free of charge without an interest in the procurement process,” he says.
