The Democratic Allaince press briefing was held in a dilapidated building.

Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Mmusi Maimane says it’s been a great privilege for the party to run three of the country’s key municipalities.

He was giving a report back on the progress made in the DA run metros of Johannesburg, Tshwane and the Nelson Mandela Bay.

He says since taking over these municipalities following the 2016 local elections, the lives of at least 16 million people have improved, good governance has returned along with increased foreign direct investment.

City of Joburg Mayor Herman Mashaba says he has managed to turn the city around since taking power.

He was giving a report on progress made.

Mashaba is governing the city with the help of parties like the EFF.

He says he’s  proud of their achievement since taking over following the 2016 local elections.
