DA lays criminal charges against Koko

Democratic Alliance (DA) MP Natasha Mazzone has laid criminal charges against the newly-reinstated Eskom CEO Matshela Koko at the Cape Town Police Station.

This after an Eskom disciplinary hearing which has cleared Koko of all the charges of misconduct levelled against him.

Mazzone says the DA wants the Hawks to delve deeper into the matter because it believes Eskom had limited powers in so far as other aspects of the allegations directed to Koko are concerned.

Mazzone says the charges relate to the Public Finance Management Act.

“The charges relate to transactions dealing with imports trading’s most significantly and it’s a billionaire rand that we are dealing with there in terms of Mr Koko’s step daughter who was involved in conflict of interests.”

However on Sunday, Eskom denied reports that former Chief Executive Matshela Koko will be back at work on Monday.

Also on Friday, the Eskom Board confirmed that it had received a report on a disciplinary hearing into Koko.
