The DA in Limpopo held a “Plan of Action” rally at Louis Trichard on Saturday. The premier candidate, Jacques Smalle, focused on problems experienced in the province.

The DA’s spokesperson on State Owned Entities and State Capture, Natasha Mazzone, said the ANC has not made South Africa a better place, but only stole the people’s money.
Mazzone said when people steal, the ANC send them to parliament. The DA will send them to jail.
Smalle said there are two million people in Limpopo looking for work. The DA will create job centres to help these people find work.
The DA will also introduce a year of voluntary national service with a stipend to allow young people to get an income, gain experience and develop skills.
He said Limpopo shares five border gates with Botswana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique, but border security is almost non-existent. There is only one vehicle scanner for the whole border.

Smalle said the ten most important provincial projects must be controlled by the office of the premier to prevent looting. If the DA comes to power, schools and education will be improved, as well as water provision and sanitation, and violent crimes will be reduced.
He also spoke about the VBS scandal. “Nearly R2 billion belonging to 22 000 investors disappeared. Many municipalities lost money. The culprits must go to jail for 15 years.”
In 2014 the DA secured 6% of the Limpopo votes in the provincial ballot, winning three seats in the provincial legislature.
Just more than 100 000 people in Limpopo voted for the DA in the national ballot, winning four seats in the national assembly and one in the National Council of Provinces.
