DA instructs lawyers to serve Malusi Booi with intention of suspension papers

The Democratic Alliance (DA) in the Western Cape has instructed its lawyers to serve the axed Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements, Malusi Booi, with papers of intent to suspend.

The party has been unable to serve Booi with the papers in person.

This follows a police raid on Booi’s office amid allegations of fraud and tender irregularities in his portfolio.

The DA Provincial Chairperson, Jaco Londt, says Booi also did not respond to the party’s request for written reasons why he should not be suspended as a party member.

“Several attempts to serve the intention to suspend papers on councillor Malusi Booi have been unsuccessful. This despite the fact that during two separate telephone conversations, he was alerted to the need to serve the documents on him, and on one occasion, councillor Booi did not honour a meeting agreed on. The matter is now with party lawyers for the sheriff of the court to serve the intention to suspend letters.”
