Highlands Park coach Owen Da Gama has expressed an interest in signing former Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United player Reneilwe Letsholonyane.

He has been training with the team for several weeks. Letsholonyane has been without a team after SuperSport United released him last season.

He was training with the team on Thursday ahead of the MTN 8 semi-final match against Polokwane City on Saturday.

Da Gama also wants to sign former Chippa United player Mark Mayambela. He is also without a team after the Eastern-Cape based team released him last season. Mayambela trained with the team at the beginning of the season but left.

Most of the top players who are in the twilight of their careers have trained with Highlands Park in a hope of securing contracts.

One of those players was former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana player Mandla Masango. Da Gama explains why they did not sign him.

Former Orlando Pirates and Bidvest Wits player Sifiso Miyeni also trained with the team hoping to secure a contract, but things did not work out.

Highlands will play against Polokwane City in the MTN 8 semi-final first leg encounter in Polokwane on Saturday. Da Gama says they will try to score a goal and not concede. – Report by Vincent Sitsula
