The Democratic Alliance (DA) has started online interviews for the position of Mayor of George in the Western Cape.
Former Mayor, Melvin Naik, is facing allegations of corruption following a forensic investigation by the provincial Local Government Department, that allegedly uncovered evidence of kick-backs worth R600 000.
Naik, municipal manager, Trevor Botha and another senior official, were placed on precautionary suspension in January over the allegations.
Botha has since been reinstated after taking his case to the High Court.
