DA can only implement policies when it becomes ruling party

Democratic Alliance leader Hellen Zille has opened the party’s Federal Congress taking place on Gauteng’s East Rand. Approximately 1 700 delegates have registered for the Congress that will see the party’s top leadership for the next two years elected.
Zille says the DA can only implement its policies when it becomes the ruling party.

“We share a commitment to the Constitution. We understand that the best way to beat poverty and overcome the legacy of apartheid is through inclusive economic growth that creates jobs. We share an unshakeable belief in non-racialism. We all have a burning desire for genuine reconciliation amongst all our people. And we know that to bring real and lasting change, we must win a national election.”

Earlier, the DA’s Federal Chairperson Wilmot James said the party’s mission to run Gauteng post-2014 is well underway. Speaking on the same Congress, James says the financial hub of South Africa is the party’s new frontier, in its bid to improve the lives of South Africans whose future currently looks bleak.

The party has earmarked Gauteng as well as the Northern Cape as the provinces it aims to add to its tally in addition to the Western Cape.
