The Democratic Alliance has announced Funzela Ngobeni as its candidate for the position of Executive Mayor of the City of Johannesburg.
This comes as political parties jockey to replace outgoing mayor Herman Mashaba on the 28th of this month. The three-year DA-Economic Freedom Fighters partnership appears to be on the rocks with the departure of Mashaba leaving the option of another governance configuration.
Ngobeni has been serving as a member of the City’s Mayoral Committee for Finance since January 2018 as well as the Leader of Executive Business in the Council and is a long-serving councillor.
