D-Day for Breytenbach

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Judgment against former Prosecutor and DA MP, Glynnis Breytenbach, and her former attorney is expected to be delivered in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday .

Closing arguments were delivered in December last year.

State Prosecutor Raymond Mathenjwa argued that Breytenbach and Gerhard Wagenaar contravened the NPA Act knowingly and consciously.

Defence lawyer, Barry Roux, argued that the State has failed to prove that both accused intended to act unlawfully when shredding documents.

Breytenbach believes her suspension, in April 2012, was a bid to stop her from prosecuting former crime intelligence boss Richard Mdluli.
