Currie Cup: Bulls aim to bounce back with Libbok at flyhalf

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Former Junior Springboks and now Blue Bulls flyhalf Manie Libbok will start at flyhalf for the Pretoria side in their crucial round four Currie Cup encounter against the Griquas at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday night.

The Bulls find themselves languishing down at sixth place on the log following losses to Western Province and the Free State Cheetahs.

They registered their first victory of the shortened six-round Currie Cup over the Pumas last weekend.

Bulls coach Pote Human says he is looking forward to seeing Libbok get back to his best.

The Griquas are second on the seven-team log with 10 points from three games with their only loss inflicted by log leading Free State Cheetahs, who have played only just two games, last weekend in Bloemfontein.

Human says they are aware of the backlash the Griquas might bring.

The Bulls will also be without their regular captain Burger Odendaal and will be led by flanker Ruan Steenkamp. Steenkamp played to expectations in their 25-17 victory over the Pumas last weekend.

Steenkamp says he is the kind of leader that leads from the front on the pitch. – Report by Thando Gqamane
