The CSIR predicts that the ANC will lose support in two of Gauteng’s major townships – Alexandra and Diepsloot. With 16.4% of the votes counted in Alexandra, the predictions are that the ANC will receive 55.8% of the vote compared to 60.7% of the vote in the 2016 Local Government Elections. Diepsloot’s voting districts have been 100% declared and the CSIR says support for the ANC will be at 61.2%, which is the same as during the 2016 LGE but lower than the 69.2% received in the General Elections in 2019.
