Sifiso Dlamini is the founder and creative director of ‘Eish Hade’, a company that specialises in making handmade sneakers. The name comes from kasi slang; the expression is used if you step on someone’s brand new shoes by mistake, you say, ‘Eish Hade’ (oops, sorry). The 26-year-old was born in Meadowlands, Soweto and his love for sneakers started at a very young age.
As a young boy from the townships, sneakers are probably the most important item to any attire; his parents couldn’t afford to buy him the type of sneakers he wanted, so Sifiso would save his lunch money and buy himself a pair he liked.
