The Specialised Commercial Crimes Court in Polokwane, Limpopo has reserved judgment on whether the fraud and corruption case against fifteen people and 13 companies should be struck off the roll or not.

The 15 people, including the former Mayor of the Mogalakwena Municipality, Andrina Matsemela, and an African National Congress (ANC) member of the provincial legislature (MPL) Tally Mashamaite are facing more than 100 charges of fraud and corruption.

The court will make a ruling on Tuesday next week. One of the lawyers of the accused, Ngoako Seabela says they want the court to strike the matter off the roll instead of the endless postponements.

“The ruling should have been delivered today, it is clear that from the beginning the state was not ready, when you issue summons and invite people to come to court there should be trial ready but what we face with, they are not ready they are not even ready to furnish us with documents. How are we going to get into the beginning of the trial if they can’t even furnish us with important documents to prepare only for a pre-trial,” says Seabela.
