Reading Time: < 1 minute

The case against the 24-year-old Matthew Benson has been referred to the Brits High Court for trial.

Benson is linked to the disappearance of Tebogo Ndlovu.

Ndlovu went missing in August this year after he was shot at on Benson’s farm for allegedly stealing oranges.

The Brits Magistrate’s Court was filled to capacity by members of the community and relatives of the accused.

Benson is currently facing a charge of murder and attempted murder.

There is still no trace of Ndlovu.

During the brief court appearance, legal representatives from both sides said they have received indictments from the high court, which they are still busy studying.

Earlier in the week, Benson’s lawyers made a brief appearance at the North Gauteng High Court
to try and get bail for his client, but his request was denied.

The case has now been postponed to the 26th of January next year for trial and Benson was remanded in custody.
