Cosatu visits families of six mineworkers killed in a petrol bomb

Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) Deputy General Secretary, Solly Phetoe, will on Thursday visit the families of six mineworkers who died when a bus was petrol bombed at Driekop near Burgersfort in Limpopo.

Five suspects are appearing in court on Thursday in connection with the attack.

Cosatu spokesperson Sizwe Pamla says Cosatu and National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) leaders will also be sending condolences to the bereaved families.

“He’ll (Solly Phetoe) be visiting to send Cosatu’s condolences to the families. He’ll also be meeting with the leadership of NUM and Cosatu in the province where he’ll be addressing workers at Burgersfort. He’ll be visiting the injured workers, he’ll be also talking to the general membership of NUM and we’re also heartened to hear that there are suspects already that have been arrested,” says Pamla.
