Corruption Watch has compared the actions of the SSA as to those of the National Party.

Corruption Watch has questioned the motives of what it says are highly compromised state institutions in seeking to protect President Jacob Zuma from allegations made in Jacques Pauw’s new book titled “The President’s Keepers”.

The State Security Agency has sent a cease and desist letter to NB Publishers demanding that it withdraw the book. SARS has also threatened legal action against Pauw.

Corruption Watch executive director David Lewis says this makes the county look like a banana republic.

“It just reveals that Pauw is up to something. As to the school security agency, I don’t know whether I understand the details of what it is that they are alleging. Quite frankly this makes South Africa just seem like a banana republic, in fact it’s incredibly reminiscent of some things that the National Party used to do in the really, really dark days of apartheid.”
