The bail application of Cornelius Pretorius, who allegedly assaulted a teenage boy in Groblersdal, Limpopo is expected to be heard on Friday.
The 50-year-old man was arrested for allegedly assaulting a 16-year-old teenager and was remanded in police custody after briefly appearing in court last Friday.
In an incident that was captured on a cellphone, Cornelius Pretorius was shown kicking and pointing a firearm at the teenager. Following the wide circulation of the video throughout social media, the man was arrested after the victim’s friends took down the perpetrator’s car registration number.
The 50-year-old faces two charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and pointing of a firearm.
Some members of the farming community say that racist incidents in the area are a common occurrence, with many going unreported.
