The Buffalo City Circumcision Forum has already recorded seven illegal circumcisions of under-aged boys in the metro - even though the winter initiation season has not yet started.

Eastern Cape police are looking for a traditional surgeon and a traditional nurse who allegedly circumcised four under aged boys at Scenery Park in East London.

It’s alleged that the four boys were illegally circumcised on Friday night.

The Buffalo City Circumcision Forum has already recorded seven illegal circumcisions of under-aged boys in the metro – even though the winter initiation season has not yet started.

The father of one the boys – who cannot be named to protect he child’s identity – has opened a case with police.

He says he is devastated.

“I am saddened about what happened. I have heard about this on Friday and I had to come to the bush and check. He was expected to write exams on Monday and he is here. I had to go to school to explain everything,” adds the father.

Buffalo City Circumcision Forum Chairperson, Stannely Makinana says they won’t tolerate illegal circumcision.

“We want those who are still thinking of practicing circumcision illegally to be arrested. We want this to be a strong message to those who are still thinking of practicing illegal circumcision,” adds Makinana.
