Analyst Luvuyo Dondolo has warned that COPE’s promise that it will create jobs is rooted in an unsustainable work plan. The party launched its 2019 elections manifesto in the East London on Saturday.

COPE leader Mosiuoa Lekota outlined what the party intended to do if were voted into power in the upcoming elections.

Dondolo says Lekota’s address during the launch of the manifesto is wanting.

“There are certain areas where maybe COPE is not clear or falling into a trap of what the ANC is saying and they still position themselves as constitutionalist, holding the rule of all law, and also when they talk about education and unemployment, I think their manifesto doesn’t go in details. And talk about education, you must have a long-term vision. They need to strike a balance when they talk about property rights and the land issue and same as the issue of unemployment. Jobs should be linked to skills development, which is not clear from the COPE side at the moment,” says Dondolo.

Lekota also said his party would seek to save South Africa from corrupt and self-serving politicians.

“In the government of COPE, those who take oath office and think they can do as they please will find themselves behind bars, before the courts and they would be punished for lying to the people,” says Lekota.
