Voting in his hometown of Maokeng in Kroonstad, Congress of the People (COPE) president Mosiuoa Lekota, highlighted the service delivery challenges faced by the community there.

Lekota hopes his party does well enough to regain their position in the legislature, with the aim of tackling corruption.
“The municipality is bankrupt we need to revise local government system. Previously before democracy local government was done voluntarily by professionals who took their time to work for community.”
Despite a series of service delivery protests in the Free State recently, voting went smoothly in Kroonstad and Viljoenskroon.
