The Cape Town Weather Office says cooler temperatures are expected in the Mother City on Friday.

The Cape Town Weather Office says cooler temperatures are expected in the Mother City on Friday with a slight respite from the hot weather expected on Friday, when cooler temperatures move in for the weekend.

Senior weather forecaster, Lebogang Mashile, says in some places in the Western Cape such as Clanwilliam and Beaufot-West temperatures peaked at around 45 degrees on Thursday.

She says temperatures in the province are expected to soar again from Tuesday next week.

“We are still looking at very hot to extremely hot temperatures. The seasonal forecast does also indicate possibilities of hot spells over the Western Cape for the coming seasons. So, high temperatures, which will result in high evaporation rate, of course that worsens even the conditions for drought. So, in terms of rainfall, nothing. It’s not looking good at all. So, there is no relief at all,” she said.
