Reading Time: < 1 minute

There’s some controversy in the Under 19 Cricket World Cup match between South Africa and the West Indies in New Zealand.

South African batsman Jiveshan Pillay was given out for obstructing the field, with his score on 47.

He had played the ball into his own body and it come to a rest next to the wicket. He grounded his bat, then picked up the ball and threw it back to the fielder.

No one appealed, but the umpire gave him out because the law states that he can’t do that without the express permission of the fielder.

The West Indies are now (latest: 44 for 1 after 10 overs), chasing a target of 283 to win the game.
