Constitutional Court ‘Hammer Attack’ suspect’s case postponed to March

The case against a 36-year-old man who was arrested for allegedly breaking windows at the Constitutional Court in Braamfontein has been postponed to March 25.

The suspect was arrested on Wednesday after he was caught smashing the windows of the highest court in the land with a hammer. At this stage, it’s still unclear what was the motive behind the incident. He is facing a charge of malicious damage to property.

The matter was postponed to allow police to conduct further investigations.

NPA spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane says the accused is a convicted murderer and was out on parole.
