Comrades Marathon receives over 1400 entries for 2023 race

The Comrades Marathon Association says international runners have been quick on the draw to submit their entries for next year’s race.

The race director Rowyn James says the have so far received over 1 400 entries from international runners.

The 96th Comrades Marathon will be a down run from Pietermaritzburg to Durban on June 11th.

James says they have received over 60% of entries including from locals.

“Entries for the 2023 Comrades Marathon are currently open and at the moment we are getting an influx of entries we are just under 14 000 entries in total and if that number just over 10% is international runners – 1440 international runners have already entered that also indicates that post COVID-19 of how the international travel have started to open up again and international people and runners are looking forward to travel internationally and their reasons to enter Comrades Marathon.”

James has confirmed that entries for next year’s race will close on Friday.

“At the moment, the entries number is kept at 20 000 just over 14 000 entries have already been taken, I would certainly encourage any of those athletes who haven’t entered yet to do so without delay because the entries are going fast and they will be closing this Friday 9th of December at 16:30. This will be the only entry window, if athletes don’t make use of this opportunity to take up entry they will miss out.”
