More than half of the 15 000 entry cap for this year’s Comrades Marathon has been reached after entries opened on Wednesday.

The world’s oldest ultra-marathon hits the roads later this year in August after a two-year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The association says in a statement that the first entry window is open to entrants who successfully entered the race in 2020.

The second entry window which is open to all other athletes will start on the 20th of next month.

This year’s race is a down run starting at the Pietermaritzburg City Hall and ending at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
