Edna Molewa passed away last Saturday at the age of 61.

African National Congress (ANC) Deputy President David Mabuza has described the late Environmental Affairs minister Edna Molewa as one of the strongest minds in the African National Congress.

Mabuza was speaking at a prayer service at the Molewa family home in Waterkloof Ridge, in the east of Pretoria.

The ANC’s NEC visited the Molewa home on Saturday evening.

Molewa passed away last Saturday at the age of 61 after a short illness. Mabuza says her death came as a shock.

“We thought she would recover and come back. Comrade Edna was an integral part of the ANC; she was part of this big family. She was one of the finest leaders of the ANC, emotionally balanced and would always carry herself in an outstanding manner,” says Mabuza
