Competition for leadership roles good for DA

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Democratic Alliance (DA) believes competition for leadership roles in the upcoming Federal congress are good for the party.

Although two Key positions in the party will go uncontested, focus of the congress will shift to the “battle of the Mayors” who will be duking it out for the hotly contested position.

DA leader Mmusi Maimane has been nominated with no contestant for re-election as party head. DA Chairperson of Federal council was also nominated for re-election.

While Nelson Mandela Bay Mayor Athol Trollip and Tshwane Mayor Solly Msimanga will go head to head and battle it out for the position of DA federal chairperson with Annelie Lotriet also eyeing the position.

The party’s electoral officer says the elections will be clean, fair and transparent. Anchen Dreyer has also urged candidates to play along the lines of the rules.

“We believe in competition,  it’s good for everyone but we also have to fight these campaigns clean and we have a code of conduct that we expect the candidates to adhere to those.”

The Federal Congress will take place on April 7 and April 8 in Tshwane.
