The Community Media Summit is set to take place on Monday in Ekurhuleni, Gauteng.

Community Media builds Active Citizenry, which involves the power of communication and information which enables citizens to participate in and influence decision making. This will be one of the main focuses at this 2018’s Inaugural Media Development and Diversity.

Deputy Minister of Communications, Pinky Kekana says community media is a platform for community members to voice out their views through their indigenous language using community media tools.

“It can’t be that today we have community media collapsing under our nose. We have to see how we sustain it. But we also have to see how we deal with governance issues that may be confronting,” says Kekana.
