Commission grants permission to hear Khan’s evidence in-camera

The Madlanga Commission has granted the evidence leader’s request to lead the evidence of Feroz Khan on Tuesday, 6 October 2026 behind closed doors, in-camera.

Khan is set to be questioned on in-camera evidence that was led on the 7th and 9th of July 2026.

Persons granted access to the proceedings are prohibited from publishing, broadcasting, disseminating or otherwise placing in the public domain any recording of the in-camera hearings.

Only the commission’s bench, relevant evidence leaders, attorneys and legal representative of Khan will be present for the hearing.

Meanwhile last week, chairperson of the Madlanga Commission Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga ordered that criminal charges be pursued against Khan for failing to comply with a subpoena requiring him to appear before the commission.

Madlanga ruled that Khan’s absence, including his failure to attend virtually, amounted to a “flagrant disregard” of the commission’s subpoena and a previous ruling.

The commission rejected Khan’s application for a postponement, stating that any outstanding concerns could have been raised while he was in attendance.

Justice Madlanga directed the commission Secretary, Dr Nolitha Vukuza, to take necessary steps to lay criminal charges against Khan for his non-attendance.
