The Giyani Specialised Commercial Crimes Court in Limpopo has ordered the former Deputy Director at the Kutama-Sinthumule Correctional Facility in Louis Trichardt, and three companies, to pay back over R2 million obtained irregularly.

The court has found that Clement Raphalalani allowed the companies to claim inflated amounts while he was a procurement officer at the facility.

Hawks Spokesperson, Matimba Maluleke says there are similar cases pending against the companies.

“We would like to welcome the court order issued by the Giyani Specialised Commercial Court against the former Deputy Director of Kutama Sinthumule Correctional Facility, Clement Raphalalani and three others to pay back the money. Between 2017 and 2018 Raphalalani connived with three companies that were awarded the tender to supply different items at the facility,” says Maluleke.
