The College of Cape Town held an inaugural US College Fair at it’s City Campus in the CBD on Monday.

Representatives from around 40 US Universities including Harvard, Stanford and Georgetown attended the fair.

The event provides learners who are interested in studying at a university in the United States with an opportunity to get information directly from the universities.

The United States Consulate General in Cape Town hosted the event.

“There are over a million foreign students studying in the United States right now, but only 2000 South Africans. We want to see that number double, or triple in the next two or three years, so we’re working really hard. This college fair is our first step. We’re going to be increasing the amount of advising we do, the amount of outreach we do to the universities and high schools here because it’s not just getting your undergraduate degree, but you can also get your Masters degree in the United States which about half of the South Africans who are in the US are doing right now,” says US Deputy Consul General, William Stevens.
