Coca Cola has apologised to South Africa after share a coke campaign caused a public outcry on social media.

Soft drink giant Coca Cola has apologised to South Africans after a picture of one of their cans on the “Share a Coke” campaign caused a public outcry on social media.

The offending can referenced a woman’s private parts in the xiTsonga language.

Coca Cola has made a formal apology following the SABC’s enquiry.

In their reply to the public broadcaster the company says they are currently investigating the matter. They also assured consumers that the offending word was not printed on any of their products.

Coca Cola argues it originated from 700 000 consumer-led activations.
