The Elias Motsoaledi Road has been closed.

Motorists are warned about closed roads at Mofolo, North in Soweto, after residents took to the streets protesting over a lack of electricity in the area.

JMPD Spokesperson Wayne Minnaar says motorists can drive through Meadowlands as an alternative as Elias Motsoaledi road is closed and traffic is slow in Khumalo and Koma road.

“There is a protest at the moment which is affecting traffic in Soweto area. Elias Motsoaledi road is closed. There’s traffic between Khumalo road and Koma road. Motorists can drive through Meadowlands as an alternative route. Protesters are complaining over not having electricity. JMPD officers are on the scene assisting with the traffic.”
