Cape Town City travel to Thohoyandou Stadium for their final Absa Premiership game of the season, where they will take on a desperate Black Leopards, who are in the thick of the relegation battle.
City are currently 4th and cannot finish lower, but do have an outside chance of usurping Bidvest Wits from the 3rd spot, but Leopards are in all sorts of bother in 15th place, and need a good result to secure their status.
City captain Thamsanqa Mkhize says winning on Saturday would cap off a great season for the team, and while they understand Leopards’ position, the home team should not expect any favours.
Mkhize says they need to be mentally strong for this final game, and not be complacent just because the season is almost over.
The Bafana Bafana international is also looking forward to a possible packed house at Thohoyandou.
Mkhize says they have been analysing Leopards’ past few home games, and they feel suitably prepared for what Lidoda Duvha will offer.
City coach Benni McCarthy says having Thato Mokeke and Craig Martin suspended for the game is a big loss.
McCarthy says while he feels for Leopards, City wants to end the season on a high with a win. – Report by Rob Delport
