City of Tshwane warns some residents about planned power cuts

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The City of Tshwane has warned that residents in Capital Park, Les Marais and Innesdale will be without power on Tuesday during the day.

Tshwane spokesperson Lindela Mashigo says a team of technicians will shut down the power supply at the Capital Park substation for emergency repair work.

This comes after big parts of Pretoria East were without power for a week after the Wapadrand Substation burnt down.

Mashigo says the technical teams detected a leak at one of the transformers inside the Capital Park substation which needs to be attended to urgently as a preventative and precautionary measure.

“Residents of Capital Park, Les Marais and Innesdale are thus forewarned about an interruption of power supply from 09h00 until 18h00. In the interest of safety, all electrical appliances must be treated as live (still on) at all times during the supply interruption period. The City apologises for the inconvenience arising from this emergency repair work,” adds Mashigo.
