The City of Tshwane has suspended bus operations in Olievenhoutbosch, south of Pretoria, due to the ongoing protest action by some of its employees.

The Tshwane Bus Service says it has decided to withdraw operations in Olievenhoutbosch on Friday morning, until further notice, due to the ongoing protest action in the area.

This after a Tshwane Metro Police Department vehicle which was deployed in the area to monitor the protest was pelted with stones and damaged by community members on Thursday evening.

City of Tshwane spokesperson Selby Bokaba says, “This morning (Friday) after assessing the situation, we decided to suspend bus operations for the safety of our drivers, passengers as well as to safeguard our assets, the buses. We will continue to closely monitor the situation and issue an update about the afternoon operations.
