The City of Tshwane has congratulated Ford South Africa for creating around 1 200 new job opportunities this month, by adding a third production shift as part of its multi-billion rand investment at the Silverton Assembly Plant.

The company will now be able to produce 720 vehicles per day or 240 units per shift, which equates to one Ford Ranger coming off the production line every two minutes.

“Earlier in the year during an oversight visit that the Executive Mayor, Randall Williams, attended along with President Cyril Ramaphosa, the company announced a R15 billion investment in its South African manufacturing operations largely to modernize and expand the Silverton plant. Now the city is thrilled to note that this investment is bearing real opportunities for communities with the increment of the company’s workforce.”
