The City of Johannesburg Council meeting has been postponed yet again. The African National Congress (ANC), Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and other minority parties staged a walkout of the council on Tuesday evening.
However, COPE councillor Colleen Makhubele was elected as chair of chairs in council. It was done through an open vote, even though some parties opposed this, saying it must be a secret ballot.

Speaker Vasco Da Gama says the election of the chairpersons of the municipality’s committees will be done in the next sitting on January 27.
“Which left us with 131 councillors … which basically meant we could not continue by announcing those that were elected officially. So on the 27th, we will have this particular agenda and approve those nominations,” adds Da Gama.
