The city of Durban has scooped four awards at the 2018 World Travel Awards held at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention centre.

The awards are known as the Oscars of the travel industry and the winners are voted in by tourists. Durban received the Awards for Africa’s Leading Meetings & Conference Centre that was won by Durban ICC, Africa’s Leading City Destination 2018, Africa’s Leading Cruise Port 2018 and Africa’s Leading Meetings & Conference Destination 2018.
Durban ICC CEO, Lindiwe Rakharebe, says it is an honour that guests voted the centre as one of the best venues in Africa.
“The race is on for us to make sure that we don’t get the likes of Kigali who are behind us who want to catch us, to make sure that we make it difficult for them to catch us. So we need to do more, we need to pull up our socks, we need to enhance items of the culinary offerings and we need to enhance our IT space items of how the rest of the delicate can be able to connect to our IT, to make sure our WIFI is the fastest out of all the Conference Centre’s .We need to do more and make sure that we excel in what we’ve done good already.”
