The City of Cape Town says it has reached the public comment stage of the municipality’s Draft Sports Facilities Management Policy.

The policy seeks to clarify roles and responsibilities of the individuals responsible for the management and maintenance of the facilities.

Individuals from sports clubs in the different communities often manage the day-to-day running of city-owned sports facilities that include stadiums and sports fields.

Mayoral Committee Member for Social Service, JP Smith, says the public will have a chance to submit comments, recommendations or input between the 1st and 30th of September.

“The policy seeks to address how the City partners, interacts and communicates with various sporting bodies and clubs regarding the management and maintenance of municipal sporting facilities. We recognise the benefits and importance of involving communities and regular patrons in the management, maintenance and security of facilities.”
