Chippa United to celebrate 10th anniversary taking on Pirates on Saturday

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Chippa United will celebrate their 10th anniversary in style when they host high-riding Orlando Pirates in a league clash at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Saturday night.

Chippa were promoted to the PSL in 2012-13 season, but were relegated the same season, but they bounced back in 2014-15 season and have been in the elite league since.

Chippa boss Chippa Mpengesi is expecting a sell-out crowd against Pirates.

Chippa were based in Cape Town when they initially gained promotion to the PSL. They then relocated to Eastern Cape, which is Mpengesi home province.

Mpengesi says moving was the best highlight.

He started from humble beginnings when he moved to Cape Town. He defied all the odds by becoming a successful businessman, and eventually formed Chippa United. He says he wants to create a legacy of symbol and hope.

Andile Mbenyane has been with the team since it was incepted ten years ago. But the midfielder has not played many games for the team, and Mpengesi is disappointed by that.
